Boat Gas Fitting and Installations
A full range of gas work can be undertaken by our boat gas installers, ranging from complete boat gas system installations and fitting through to single appliance servicing. Due to the wide range of work that may be required, please call 07963 974793 or email me to discuss your boat gas installations and fitting needs.
Controlled checks through requirements of the Boat Safety Scheme ensure your boat is checked for gas leaks every four years. If you live aboard, or your boat is used extensively, or for peace of mind why not consider a yearly gas check. Looking to arrange a Gas Safety Check why not call Chris 07963974793.

Why
not consider having a bubble tester fitted? A brilliant easy to use device that is fitted in your gas locker to enable you to check for gas
leaks as frequently as you like. For smaller gas systems the bubble tester
can be fitted in-line. For larger gas systems the bubble tester should be
installed as a by-pass as in the picture to the right. As a
guide, this installation including materials and testing costs is
approximately £180.
Call 07963 974793 to find out more, or to arrange the fitting of a bubble tester.
Servicing to check the correct operation and safety of appliances should be carried out every year. Unless you take action, the installation could go unchecked for years. Why not give me a call to arrange a gas safety check from our boat gas installers on 07963 974793.
LPG Regulators and flexible pipe work does not last forever. Checking for deterioration should take place at least once a year. Gas regulations recommend that LPG Regulators and flexible pipe work get replaced every ten and five years respectively.
Annual Landlord Gas Safety CheckIt is a requirement by law that any boat used for hire & reward has to have an Annual Gas Safety Check, and this is often referred to as a Landlord Certificate. This checks the installation, ventilation and robustness of the system. Should you operate a hire boat fleet I would be happy to discuss your requirements please call 07963 974793 or email me to discuss your needs.
Land Lord certificates can be carried out on a rate per boat, or a day rate depending on the number required. to help keep costs down the Boat Safety Examination and Certificate can be undertaken at the same time.
Gas safety needs to be taken very seriously and for this reason the following Principal Regulations help maintain safety.
Statutory Instrument SI 1998 No 2451 "Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998" (GSIUR) forms the backbone of legislation in the UK
For vessels built within the United Kingdom, PD 5482-3:2005, which supersedes BS 5482-3:1999 (now withdrawn). This is the code of practice for installations in boats, yachts and other vessels of lengths up to 24 metres
For vessels CE marked to the Recreational Craft Directive, which may be imported, the builder may have chosen to apply the standards within BS EN ISO 10239:2000
For privately owned pleasure boats, a person can carry out gas work providing they are competent. Should an incident occur, those who undertook the work could find themselves having to demonstrate competency.
Competency with regard to gas work is not proved by being good at DIY, but has to be assessed against the requirements of the statutory legislation.
Gas work on Hire Boats, Day Boats and Residential boats has to be carried out by those having correct Gas Safe Registration (until end March 2009 this used to be CORGI).
A Residential Boat is categorised as a boat used as a primary place of residence.
Those holding Gas Safe Registration have been assessed as being competent to a required level in the application of the statutory legislation.
Gas Safe Registered Boat Gas Installers carry an ID card issued annually which details the type of gas work which can be undertaken, and this should be checked before allowing work to commence.
